BRYMBO boosted their chances of avoiding relegation and heaped more pressure on basement side Connah's Quay after winning their bottom of the table showdown.

Quay made a poor start after electing to bat and were languishing on 9-2 until David Fox's knock of 42 sparked a revival.

But he lacked support and although Darren Pritchard made 24, Quay were all out for 124 inside 25 overs, Mohamed Nilam Jayman (4 for 25) and Daniel Parry (3 for 36) doing the damage.

It was never going to be a big enough score and Brymbo won with 119 for three, opener Jayman (51) equally impressive with the bat as Martin Burger took two wickets.

Second bottom Brymbo closed the gap on Pontblyddyn, the side immediately above them, as they lost by 138 runs against Llandudno.

Danial Evans finished 126 not out and Matthew Jones made 70 as Llandudno posted 268 for four, James Hughes taking 2 for 46.

Although skipper Glenn Chambers made 61, only two other players got into double figures and Pont were dismissed for 130.

Northop and Gresford put more distance between the strugglers after registering wins.

St Asaph made 192 for seven in their clash with Northop for whom James Birch (3 for 42) was the pick of the bowlers.

It wasn't plain-sailing in reply but Andrew Oates (48) and Andy Poynton (43) led the way as Northop won with 193 for nine.

Gresford secured a dramatic one run victory over Denbigh after making 193 for eight in their time at the crease.

Denbigh gave chase but fell just short as they were all out for 192.

Leaders Bangor (260 for nine) lost by one run against Mochdre (261 for nine) and second placed Menai Bridge (302 for nine) beat Pwllheli by 149 runs.

It was a good day for the away sides in Division One as they all celebrated wins.

Llay Welfare wicked up a seven wickets success over Mold who posted 123 for nine, Wes Gillam (21no) the top scorer with Ethan Griffiths (3 for 39) and Jack Aplin (2 for 5) in good form.

Openers Jack Parry (30) and David Phennah (23) led Llay to a straight forward win and they closed the gap on leaders Conwy (80) who were beaten at home by Bethesda (204).

Hawarden Park triumphed by five wickets at Bersham who were restricted to 110 for nine, Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage (68) scoring the bulk of the runs as Ian Martin (4 for 12) and Michael Wootton (3 for 17) wreaked havoc.

David Hughes made 30 as Park reached a winning 115 for five.

Carmel & District posted 195 for five (Ryan Roberts 47 no) and saw Abergele reach 74 for four when bad light stopped play.
