Gresford and Brymbo lock horns with both bragging rights and crucial Premier Division points at stake.

The duo have struggled for form during the opening rounds of fixtures, Gresford hovering just above a drop zone currently occupied by Brymbo.

Both teams have failed to win any of their first four matches - but that has to change tomorrow in what is already an important fixture.

Gresford captain Daniel Williams said: “These are the games you look for at the start of the year, and it’s a ‘six-pointer’ already considering how we’ve both started.”

On Brymbo, who have been hit by player departures over the winter, Williams, who is able to call on Jack Bunkell with Sam Thompson missing the home clash, added: “They’ve still got some match-winners even with a lot of players missing.”

Brymbo captain James Claybrook is hoping his side’s form can turnaround with yet another derby success.

He said: “Gresford is always a competitive game and you want local bragging rights in these derbies. We did the double over them last year so we’d love to do that two years in a row.

“They are a good side and are a difficult team to beat away from home in their conditions, but it’s about performing with the bat for us and the result will look after itself.”

CJ Craven, Will Smith and Gareth Pugh all miss out on the short trip for Brymbo.

Northop make the long trip to Pwllheli aiming to continue working their way up the table.

A 15-point penalty has left Northop playing catch-up, the Flintshire side in ninth rather than third spot.

Team manager Dale Harley said: “We will carry on picking up as many points as we can. We know we are better than the table shows.”

On Pwllheli, Harley added: “We will be going there with plenty of confidence.”

Pontblyddyn are also on the road as they head to Mochdre.

Martin Burger joked that his deputy will be tasked with simply keeping Connah’s Quay in positive points.

Burger is unavailable for tomorrow’s home clash with Denbigh - and potentially the trip to Bangor on Saturday week.

Quay have endured a tough start to the season, losing all four outings while seeing four of their six points deducted.

Captain Burger believes his team should not have suffered a penalty for slow over rate in their opening game of the season against Mochdre, who posted a mammoth 448 for three.

Teams are required to bowl 17 overs an hour, but Quay appealed the penalty due to the high-scoring nature of the Mochdre innings, something that fell on deaf ears.

Burger, who urged the umpires to go easy - which they duly did - on St Asaph when Quay plundered 482 for seven in 2017, said: “We appealed the decision because we did everything we could to get through our overs quickly, but they scored a lot of runs and it’s tough.”

David Fox will deputise for Burger, provided he overcomes a hamstring injury.

Elsewhere, it’s second versus fourth as St Asaph entertain Menai Bridge and third-placed Bangor head to Llandudno, in fifth.
