DAVID LLOYD was lavished with praise by Glamorgan head coach Matthew Maynard after being awarded his county cap.

The former Brymbo ace was presented with his cap ahead of the start of Glamorgan’s County Championship Division Two clash with Gloucestershire in Newport.

Presenting the cap to the 26-year-old, Maynard said: “He is someone who epitomises everything that playing for Glamorgan is all about.

“Not only is he hugely respected in the dressing room, but you show those same respectful traits with the way you go about your training and practice, and the way you are in the dressing room.

“You are a team man and that is epitomised clearly by the One-Day Cup where you were smashing it at number four, but sacrificed your own personal game for that of the team by moving to the top of the order.”

Lloyd marked the occasion with his first County Championship wicket of the season, the all-rounder cleaning up George Hankins for three.

"To be capped was an honour, and a special moment for me," added Lloyd.
