OLD acquaintances will be renewed in what promises to be a Sunday Adran Premier cracker.
Wrexham and Cardiff City were the top two teams last season and they will meet at the Cardiff City Stadium in a pivotal clash.
For the Bluebirds, they will be seeking a first triumph of the campaign, while champions Wrexham will look to make it back-to-back wins to kickstart their title defence.
Head coach Jenny Sugarman told the club: “Cardiff are going to be, obviously, a completely different opposition.
“We know that they’ve had quite a big rebuild, but what we’ve got to expect is a top team. So, we’ve done some profiling work already.”
The teams have experienced differing starts to their season.
Cardiff were beaten 3-1 during their big trip to Swansea City but there were no such concerns for Wrexham, who swept to a 4-0 triumph in their clash with Aberystwyth Town at The Rock.
Natasha Thomas grabbed Wrexham’s first league goal of the campaign when she headed home from Maris Francis-Jones’ cross.
Francis-Jones, Ava Suckley and Katie Barker, the league’s top scorer last season, were also on target.
Sugarman added: “We know we’ll probably spend less time camped in the final third trying to probe and draw people out, and I would expect a bigger threat going the other way, which we’ll need to, obviously, make sure that we are clued up on our out-of-possession structures, to make sure we limit their chances.”
It will be a swift return to the capital for Mikayla Cook. A former favourite with the Bluebirds, Cook made the switch from Cardiff to Wrexham over the summer.
Aberystwyth’s tough start to the campaign continues as they welcome Swansea on Sunday, while The New Saints host Barry and Cardiff Met pay a visit to Briton Ferry Llansawel.
