THERE may be a hectic spell coming up for Connah’s Quay Nomads, but boss John Disney’s full focus is on a tough trip today.
Nomads, unbeaten in their last six matches, are heading along the coast to tackle Colwyn Bay in what is an intriguing encounter.
Quay are third in the standings, while the Seagulls, who have ex-Nomads duo Michael Wilde and Danny Harrison as their management team, find themselves in ninth spot.
“Colwyn Bay’s going to be a really difficult task, quarter past five next Saturday,” Disney told the club.
“We’ve got three games in six days. Obviously, Colwyn Bay, Airbus and following that on with Cardiff Met.
“All our eyes and attention are on Colwyn Bay. We understand how difficult of an occasion that’s going to be, because we drew both games there last season.
“Wildey, Danny and the squad that they’ve built there this season is a really good, experienced Cymru Premier team, with some very good players and people that we know very well, and players that we tried to keep, but we couldn’t.
“Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, but again, we’re going there to win a game of football.
“There was some things that I’ve seen in the first six weeks that I really like and there’s some things that I really don’t like. So, again, over to me, my team, my squad.”
Nomads will be looking for a return to winning ways following their 1-1 draw at home to Haverfordwest County.
This brought to an end Nomads’ five-match winning sequence in the league and Disney’s side managed to salvage a point via Max Woodcock’s second half leveller.
While disappointed with last week’s 1-0 defeat at Penybont, Bay boss Wilde was pleased with his side’s display.
He said: “It’s very hard to come off and say we’re happy, because we are certainly not happy.
“I think what we will say is the performance was good. The problem is with a performance being good, it doesn’t give you three points.
“It doesn’t give you a point, and the effort and the work rate was good for, possibly, 70, 75 minutes of that game in chunks, which again is something to recognise and something to challenge the lads. We’ve got to do it more often, for a longer period of time.”
Nomads go to Airbus in the FAW Reserves North League today.
