DEESIDE DRAGONS will be hoping plenty of Sheffield steel is on show this weekend.
Mike Clancy’s charges open their new NIHL Moralee Division season at Deeside Leisure Centre on Sunday, with Sheffield Scimitars their opponents.
Dragons will head into their opener following back-to-back triumphs in challenge matches versus Telford Tigers.
Deeside side won 5-2 in the away opener and they followed this up with a 4-1 triumph at Deeside Leisure Centre.
Noah Percival, Matty Barlow, Damarni James, Colin Cromie and Ross Kennedy saw Deeside through to their first victory.
Cromie (2), James and Theo Malone found the target in the home encounter as Dragons warmed up for the new campaign in positive fashion.
Sunday’s other fixtures: Billingham v Blackburn; Hull v Leeds; Nottingham v Solihull; Widnes v Telford. Tomorrow: Blackburn v Billingham; Sheffield v Leeds; Telford v Widnes.
In addition, in the Laidler Division, Dragons Seconds are at home tomorrow when they play the Sheffield Scimitars Division Two team.
