PRACTISING penalties may have been one of the priorities for Yr Wyddgrug in training sessions ahead of tomorrow’s North East Wales FA Cup clash at Coedpoeth United.
The Mold side went out of the Welsh Trophy on Anglesey where Cemaes Bay keeper Connor Hughes made five spot-kick saves in the shoot-out.
Yr Wyddgrug number one Aidan Johnson didn’t do too bad as he saved two penalties as Bay went through 4-3 on penalties.
Coedpoeth will have one eye on next weekend’s Welsh Cup tie at home to St Asaph City and the same can be said of Hawarden Rangers.
They head to Chirk AAA tomorrow with a home Welsh Cup tie against Llangefni Town on the horizon.
Both Chirk and Hawarden have had decent starts to the season with Tom Freeman the man in form for the hosts.
There are 12 ties in the North East Wales League Trophy.
Brickfield Rangers Reserves are top of the pile in the league-based competition but they may have a tough ask making it five wins on the trot.
They head to Overton Recreation, who are unbeaten in four games having already banged in 23 goals.
Llanuwchllyn Reserves will move into the top three if they beat Johnstown at home while there’s a Wrexham derby between Bellevue and FC Queen’s Park Reserves.
