PHIL PARKINSON says Chester will be in for a long night if they emulate their poor performance from the weekend.
The Blues boss was far from pleased with his side’s showing in their 1-1 draw at Hebburn Town and he is looking for a marked improvement for this evening’s home meeting against Merthyr Town.
Parkinson (pictured right) told Chester FC TV: “If we play like that, we’ll get absolutely murdered. I’m not going to make any bones of it.
“Merthyr, for me watching them, are one of the best footballing teams I’ve seen at this level.
“They’re ahead of where we are with the ball. We’ve got to show that we can get to our very best against them, otherwise it’ll be a really excruciatingly long day. But, I’m sure we will. We’ll have to raise our levels. We’re the home team.”
Merthyr, who occupy a mid-table spot, go into the game on the back of a brilliant 2-1 triumph against previously unbeaten Macclesfield.
Leaders Oxford City go to Telford this evening, while second-placed Hereford are at Harborough.
