THE top of rugby union’s Division One North table has a familiar look about it following the opening round of fixtures.

Nant Conwy and Pwllheli are regular rivals in the upper reaches and they occupy the top-two positions after their first fixtures of the season.

In top spot are Pwllheli, who eased to a 42-7 success at home to last season’s Division Two North champions Mold.

Scott Jones grabbed the try for Mold, with Seth Geary adding the conversion points.

Defending champions Nant Conwy were comfortable 33-7 victors away to Bala and Caernarfon got the better of hosts Llangefni 29-5.

Ruthin were defeated 24-10 during their trip to COBRA and a thriller ended with Bethesda pipping Llandudno 38-32.

Wrexham’s scheduled match with Newtown was postponed.

Shotton Steel opened their Division Three North East campaign in style courtesy of a 94-0 victory from their derby clash with Flint.

Newtown Athletic bagged a 68-14 outcome during their trip to Llanidloes, while Vale of Clwyd bragging rights went the way of Denbigh with their 36-15 victory versus Ruthin Athletic.

Menai Bridge got the better of Llangefni Athletic 87-21 in Division Three North West.

Rhyl & District Athletic Athletic lost out 43-17 at Colwyn Bay Athletic, while Pwllheli Athletic were too strong for Porthmadog, winning 39-0, while in National League North Two, Chester beat Wharfedale 35-7.
