THE curtain came down on North Wales Crusaders’ season with an away day reverse.
In interim head coach Martin Fisher’s final match at the helm, Crusaders were defeated 98-0 during their trip to Midlands Hurricanes.
The home side were on the front foot in the first half and they were able to establish a 46-0 advantage by the midway point of the contest.
Eight minutes had elapsed when Liam Sutcliffe came up with the opening score, which was converted by Sully Medforth. He also added the extras to Liam Horner’s 10th minute score, before Matty Chrimes stretched the lead with his unconverted score after a quarter-of-an-hour.
Medforth kicked his third successful conversion on the back of Lewis Else’s try, while Matty Welham went close to a Cru response in the 20th minute, but his grubber kick went dead.
Horner and Zeus Silk added further tries for Hurricanes, both of which were converted by Medforth.
Chrimes then went over for his 22nd try of the season and Medforth was again on the money with the extras.
Medforth then converted his own try as Midlands finished the half on a high.
Chrimes would complete his hat-trick in the second half, with further tries going to Sutcliffe, Oliver Roberts, Medforth, Ryan Johnson (2), Aidan McGowan (2) and Cian Tyrer.

Wigan celebrated the life of the late, great Sir Billy Boston by sweeping aside Hull KR aside in a 46-0 Super League win.
Boston, who was made rugby league’s first knight last year, died last week, four days after the funeral of his wife Lady Joan.
An emotional pre-match tribute saw Boston’s son Stephen carry a Wigan shirt bearing his name onto the halfway line, where it was draped over the same throne upon which Boston had sat when the club celebrated his knighthood last July.
Two seats were left vacant in the directors’ box in tribute to Boston and his wife, and the home team warmed up in black T-shirts emblazoned with his number two prior to an impeccably-observed minute’s silence.
Wigan are level on points with leaders, Leeds, who were 34-6 winners at St Helens.
Warrington guaranteed a home play-off spot after withstanding a late Hull fightback to claim a 16-14 win while Wakefield beat struggling York 28-12 to guarantee a place in the play-offs.
Toulouse left Bradford rooted to the bottom of the table after a 28-18 win.
Huddersfield earned a vital win towards the foot of the table as they beat Leigh 30-18 while Catalans Dragons' 34-6 win at Castleford was paused for 35 minutes during the second half due to a power outage.
