WORK is continuing at North Wales Crusaders to ensure a licence is in place to compete in the Championship next season.
Crusaders’ 2026 campaign will draw to a close on Sunday as they make the trip to Midlands Hurricanes.
This will bring the curtain down on a tumultuous year for the club, which came under a new ownership group in the spring.
NW Rugby League 26 Limited received approval to take on the membership for the club until the end of the current season, with Crusaders working closely with the RFL in order to secure a licence to compete next season.
In an open letter, club chairman Jamie El-Kaleh said: “The process is continuing and we remain fully engaged at every stage.
“It is important to be clear this is not an attempt to speak negatively about the RFL. They have been supportive of our licence application to date and continue to work with us constructively.
“We appreciate that support and the opportunity to present our case for the future of Wales Crusaders and rugby league in Wales.”
It has been a testing campaign on and off the field for the club and Crusaders will be keen to put on a positive show for their supporters at Midlands, who are assured of a place in the end-of-season play-offs.
Crusaders go into the match-up on the back of a 90-6 reverse at the hands of Keighley Cougars in their final home game of the year.
