A DRAW felt like defeat after Wrexham conceded a last-gasp equaliser against Cardiff City as the Welsh derby ended in a 1-1 draw.
Kieffer Moore gave Phil Parkinson's side a third minute lead but failure to kill the game off cost the Reds at The Cardiff City Stadium in their opening Championship game of the season.
It was deep into added time when George Dobson fouled Joel Colwill on the edge of the area, and Rubin Colwill’s free-kick sealed a point for newly promoted Cardiff.
Here's five talking points from the game.
1. Danny Imray is proving to be an excellent signing.
Imray was the first new arrival of the summer after joining from Crystal Palace and the right wing-back looks a class act after only two competitive starts for Wrexham.
He was a huge threat down the wing and he had the assist for Moore's opening strike.
As he continued to cover every blade of grass, Imray was also put through on goal and left one-one-one with goalkeeper Nathan Trott but although he fired wide, the early signs are excellent.
2. Missed chances prove costly.
Moore gave Wrexham the perfect start and his side had lots of chances to extend their lead, even though Cardiff enjoyed a lot of possession.
The Reds' attacking football was quality and caused the home side a lot of problems, and it led to opportunities, but they just couldn't find that crucial second goal.
Not being ruthless enough came back to haunt Wrexham as Cardiff levelled deep into stoppage time and it was tough to take.
3. Was a draw a fair result?
It was honours even but Wrexham will feel like it was two points dropped after conceding a last-gasp equaliser.
After going close to scoring a second goal on numerous occasions, the Reds definitely had the better chances, even if the Bluebirds saw a lot of the ball and put pressure on at the end as they were still in the game at 1-0.
And the equaliser arrived with virtually the last kick of the game, denying Wrexham an opening weekend win they feel they should have had in the bag, but Cardiff kept going till the end.
4. One point better off than this time last year!
Wrexham performed well on the opening day of the Championship season 12 months ago but after going ahead at Southampton, two late goals resulted in a 2-1 defeat.

Cardiff boss says 'probably shouldn't have put him on as early as I did'
It may have felt like a loss after conceding an equaliser deep into injury time at Cardiff but the Reds deserved at least a draw following another impressive display on the road.
Although there was disappointment, Parkinson can take a lot of positives from the way his side played, and the point means they are off and running.
5. Areas for concern?
Conceding late goals is something the Reds boss will need to stamp out, although his side defended well during the rest of the game.
Being clinical and taking your chances is something to improve on because Wrexham should have been out of sight, but they paid the price for not being ruthless enough.
Although there were a lot of positives to take, Wrexham are still light in some positions and you'd expect more new signings before the transfer window closes.
