REPRESENTATIVES from North Wales Crusaders have met up with the RFL as the end of the season fast approaches.
Crusaders, who are preparing for Sunday’s Championship match at Swinton Lions, have endured a testing season on and off the field.
The current club set-up replaced the former club which started the season, which underwent an insolvency event over the spring.
A club statement this week read: “Representatives of Crusaders attended RFL HQ to discuss our 2027 licence.
“Conversations are ongoing and we will provide an update as soon as possible.”
In light of the demise of the previous club earlier this year, the RFL board confirmed that a new ownership group, under the company name NW Rugby League 26 Limited, had received approval to take on the membership for the club until the end of the current season.
There are three games of the campaign left to play from North Wales’ perspective and since the takeover, Crusaders have been under an obligation to work closely with the RFL under its financial sustainability regulations.
As it stands, membership is for the remainder of the 2026 season only, with any future participation conditional on a comprehensive business plan being provided to the governing body before being admitted for the 2027 fixture list.
London Broncos are just three wins away from achieving a perfect season.
The Championship leaders boast 21 consecutive wins ahead of their trip to Oldham on Sunday.
Doncaster, who defeated North Wales 120-0 last weekend, will look to make home advantage count against Midlands Hurricanes and go into the game on the back of a thrilling 26-25 win at Barrow Raiders on Wednesday night.
Other fixtures: Halifax Panthers v Widnes Vikings; Workington Town v Rochdale Hornets; Whitehaven v Dewsbury Rams; Batley Bulldogs v Keighley; Sheffield Eagles v Hunslet.
