PHIL PARKINSON admits to being “delighted” with how his tenure has started at Chester.
Former Altrincham boss Parkinson was appointed as Chester’s new manager following the conclusion of last season and he has been busy strengthening the squad at his disposal.
Eight players have already been signed ahead of the forthcoming National League North campaign and Parkinson told Chester FC TV: “Been absolutely delighted. Slightly surprised as well at how smoothly it’s gone.
“Such a big change at the football club regarding personnel, ideas, principles, philosophies, those types of things that will come with myself and Neil (Sorvel) coming in.
“I thought we would be going deep into pre-season with the recruitment, but, as I’ve said all the way through, the fans sell this place so easily.
“The model that we are putting into place is really appealing to different players for a variety of reasons.
“So, it’s gone really, really well. So, I just want to thank everyone for the support we’ve received since we’ve come in.”
Chester’s seventh signing of the summer is attacker Jefferson Abreu, who has penned an initial one-year-deal.
Abreu was the stand-out performer for Northwich Victoria last season, being named as the club manager’s player of the season and winning the Midland League player of the season prize.
He scored 20 goals last season and Parkinson said: “At just 21 years of age, Jefferson is one of the brightest young talents emerging from the lower divisions and he’s exactly the type of prospect we love to identify and develop.”
Also arriving at The Deva is defender Jack Kenny, who has signed on an initial one-year-deal from Avro.
