WREXHAM have made sure of a top-four finish during a hugely promising campaign.
Twelve months on from battling against relegation from Division One North, the Bryn Estyn Road side assured themselves of a fourth-placed finish thanks to a 39-26 success at home to Bethesda.
Wrexham’s spot in fourth had actually been cemented on Friday evening when fifth-placed Bala were beaten 49-19 during their trip to league runners-up Pwllheli.
Despite this, Wrexham will have been been aiming to finish things off on a real high with their 15th triumph of the campaign.
Things were tight during the initial stages and the teams were tied with less than 10 minutes of the first half left to play. Rhys Davies grabbed Wrexham’s first try, which was converted by Jacob Hughes, with Bethesda responding via a seven-pointer of their own.
However, tries from Jack Harrison and Tom Walker - one of which was converted by Hughes - saw the home side 19-7 to the good at the interval.
Lloyd Roberts grabbed the bonus point score soon after the restart. Further tries went to Davies and Roberts, while Hughes’ boot contributed five points. Bethesda responded with three second half tries to grab a bonus point.
Wrexham Athletic are favourites for the Division Three North East title following their 35-7 victory at home to front-runners COBRA Athletic.
Kiyan Mckenzie-Moore, Evan James, Owen Sinnott-Davies and Jack Jones claimed the tries for Wrexham. For good measure, Jones kicked three penalties and three conversions.
Nine points from their last two matches would make sure of the title for Wrexham.
