CHESTER are now in the National League North play-off spots after stretching their winning run to four games.
The in-form Blues got the better of leaders Fylde 1-0 at the Deva Stadium, courtesy of Tom Davies’ stunning flicked effort with just four minutes remaining.
Interim boss Connell Rawlinson told Chester FC TV: “Speechless is the word, I think. But, yeah, four wins on the bounce, incredible, and they’re not easy games as well.
“The league leaders there, got some real good quality players. You could see in the first half very good in midfield and I just thought, like, the lads stuck to the game plan really well.
“We pressed from the front really aggressively, went man-for-man on the backline, which is not easy to do... it’s high risk, but high reward as well.
“If you can stop a team like Fylde playing, then that’s half the battle.
“So, yeah, I’m really pleased with how the game panned out and the goal was outrageous.”
Chester are now in sixth spot, level on points with fifth-placed Scarborough Athletic.
Chasing Merthyr and Buxton both have a game in hand over the Blues in the race for a play-off spot.
Merthyr lost out 2-1 at home to John Rooney’s Macclesfield, while Buxton beat Scarborough 2-0.
