RGC are on course to achieve a top-six Super Rygbi Cymru League finish.
The north Walians made it three victories on the bounce with an 18-10 success at Ebbw Vale, who are sitting at the top of the standings.
This was a first league win at the Steelmen for RGC and it means victory at home to Bridgend in their concluding match will secure a top-six berth.
It’s fair to say the first half wasn’t one for the purists and the only movement on the scoreboard arrived from three penalties.
One came from Ebbw Vale’s Tom Price, with two successful kicks from Billy McBryde giving RGC the advantage.
RGC were playing against the wind in the second half, so it was going to require a massive effort.
McBryde was just short with a penalty as the wind held the ball up, a sign that every opportunity to claim points was vital.
RGC picked up the pace and the game began to open up. Caio Parry attacked down the wing, but a minute later Delwyn Jones was chasing a ball back 80 metres to his own line under pressure to clear.
After Gareth Parry was sent to the sin bin, Ebbw Vale took advantage to claim the lead.
Hooker Ieuan Morris went over for a try, which was converted by Price.
In response, RGC’s Parry scored a superb solo try to nudge his side back into the lead and McBryde was on the money with the extras.
When Ben Main was sin-binned for the Steelmen, RGC took advantage.
Scrum half Connor Dever spotted a gap and sprinted straight to the line for another try.
RGC head back to Stadiwm Eirias to play Bridgend in the last regular league game of the season on Saturday and a fourth win on the spin will set the North Wales side up nicely for the play-offs.
Cardiff moved to within three points of top spot after their 40-27 win over Newport, while fourth-placed Llandovery were stunned 40-24 at basement side Pontypool.
Carmarthen Quins were pipped 20-15 by Aberavon and Bridgend prevailed 34-33 at Swansea.
Pwllheli maintained their interest in the Division One North title with a 21-6 success at COBRA.
In the only other match, Llangefni won 31-23 at Llandudno.
Double-chasing Mold are through to the last-four of the Division Two North Cup. Scheduled opponents Abergele conceded their quarter-final clash and league champions Mold will go to Dolgellau in the last-four on April 18.
