Bonus boost on their travels as Wrexham claim victory

The Bryn Estyn Road side made it back-to-back triumphs thanks to their comfortable 37-10 success at Welshpool.

This was Wrexham’s fifth win in eight league run-outs this season and the result moves them into fifth place in the rankings, just two points adrift of third-placed Bala.

Wrexham were favourites to triumph at basement side Welshpool and the visitors enjoyed a strong start to proceedings.

Jacob Hughes’ fifth minute penalty ensured his side had the lead, before Ianto Roberts crossed for the opening try five minutes later.

Within four minutes, a second try arrived through Thomas Crossman and Wrexham were in the box seat.

Welshpool responded with an 18th minute penalty, however Wrexham extended their advantage courtesy of Hughes’ try.

The home side then secured a converted try to make sure they trailed 18-10 at the midway point.

A bonus point was in the bag for Wrexham when Connor Crompton grabbed his side’s fourth try of the afternoon a quarter-of-an-hour into the second half and Hughes added the extras.

Hughes was again on the money with his conversion attempt following Kiyan Mckenzie-Moore’s 65th minute score and Wrexham’s final try came via Rhys Davies late on.

There was also a bonus point triumph for Bala, who got the better of Ruthin 31-0 at Maes Gwyniad.

In Division Two North, Bro Ffestiniog grabbed a 34-24 success from their trip to Dolgellau.

There was a spirited effort from RGC in their 38-26 home loss at the hands of Super Rygbi Cymru front-runners Ebbw Vale.

Gareth Parry, Billy McBryde, Sam Jones and Dion Jones grabbed the home tries, three of which were converted by McBryde.

This was RGC’s ninth match of the season and they find themselves sixth in the table. There’s a break on the horizon, with the Colwyn Bay-based side next in action at Cardiff on December 6.
