IT’S all about broadening their horizons from Wrexham’s perspective tomorrow.
The regular schedule is North Wales opposition week-after-week but there’s something different for the Bryn Estyn Road outfit to look forward to in knockout action.
It’s the second round of the Welsh Division One Cup and Wrexham, who had a bye in the previous stage, have been handed a home clash with Tenby United.
Plying their trade in Division One West, Tenby are third after winning three of their opening four contests this season and in the last round, they got the better of Swansea Uplands 33-29.
Wrexham have also triumphed three times this season so far, but they head into the cup clash on the back of a 27-22 reverse at Ruthin.
“Saturday was pretty frustrating,” said Wrexham number eight Jack Harrison. “We played some really good stuff at times but let ourselves down with some sloppy defence and too many errors.
“There were plenty of positives to take out of it, though, and they are what we’re looking to build on this week as we welcome Tenby United in the cup.
“The cup is always exciting as it gives you opportunities to come up against teams you’ve never played before and you can test yourselves against quality opposition.
“Caernarfon paved the way for North Wales last year winning the National Cup, so we want to ensure that we represent ourselves the best we can this weekend.”
Memories of last season’s triumph at the Principality Stadium will still be fresh in Caernarfon’s minds and they are tasked with tomorrow’s trip to Blaina.
COBRA will hope to make home advantage count against Penarth, while the remaining North Wales sides have all been given away draws.
Llangefni tackle Lampeter Town, Llandudno face Heol y Cyw, Bethesda come up against Builth Wells and Division One North leaders Pwllheli are at Barry.
There are home comforts in store for Wrexham Athletic in the second round of the Division Five Cup.
They will take on fellow North Walians Caernarfon Athletic.
Bala Athletic and Bangor welcome Bridgend Athletic Seconds and Beddau Athletic respectively, while Colwyn Bay Athletic head to Banwen.
Meanwhile, there are respective home clashes for Menai Bridge and Pwllheli Athletic against New Tredegar and Hollybush, with COBRA Athletic heading off to Old Tyleryan.
Newtown, conquerors of Mold in the last round, host Tonmawr in the Division Three Cup.
Bro Ffestiniog and Machynlleth are on their travels to Maesteg Celtic and Neyland respectively, Rhyl & District visit Rhigos and Teirw Nant Conwy welcome Llandaff to Llanrwst.
RGC occupy a spot in the bottom-two of the Super Rygbi Cymru standings and they’ll be looking to improve on this.
There’s a chance with tomorrow’s visit to Aberavon, who are just a point and one position above RGC in the table.
Leaders Ebbw Vale go to basement side Newport, Cardiff host Pontypool and Swansea are at home to Carmarthen Quins.
