AN unexpected week off was supplied courtesy of Storm Amy.
Wrexham, following a promising few weeks to their Division One North campaign, were scheduled for their toughest task yet away to defending champions Nant Conwy.
The arrival of the stormy weather meant both sets of players were left kicking their heels, but the forecast looks much kinder for tomorrow as Wrexham have home advantage against COBRA.
Wrexham number eight Jack Harrison said: “We’re finally back in action this weekend as we welcome COBRA. Feels like we’ve both seen a lot of each other having played both games towards the end of last season.
“We know what they’ll bring - physicality, set piece and aggression - so we’ll have to make sure we’re up to that challenge.
“Our momentum has been halted a bit following the two weeks with no games, but we can’t use that as an excuse and have to make sure we’re firing once that whistle goes.”
Indeed, it’s been a three-week break for Wrexham, who were handed a bye last month in the first round of the Welsh Division One Cup.
The hope is this has not affected Wrexham’s sharpness, following two wins in their opening three games to open the campaign.
It’s also been a positive start from COBRA, who have three triumphs in four games.
Pwllheli went top with last week’s win over Ruthin and a maximum points victory at lowly Welshpool should keep them in pole position.
Level on points with the front-runners are Caernarfon, who head to Maes Gwyniad to tackle Bala, while third-placed Nant Conwy return to action at Llandudno, who are fourth.
Basement side Colwyn Bay host Bethesda and Ruthin head to Llangefni.
A trio of teams can still boast 100 per cent winning records in Division Two North - and one of them is Mold.
The second-placed Chester Road side have a tough clash in store at home to Teirw Nant Conwy, who are fifth, while leaders Newtown head to Caeau Les Phillips for their match-up with Denbigh.
Machynlleth, the other side with three wins out of three, are at home to winless Bro Ffestiniog.
Fourth-placed Dolgellau host Rhyl & District, while Abergele are on their travels to Llanidloes.
There’s a big top-two meeting in Division Three North East with leaders Ruthin Athletic at home to Mold Athletic.
Wrexham Athletic make the trip to Flint, and Rhosllanerchrugog head to Llangollen to take on Bro Gwernant. Elsewhere, COBRA Athletic are at home to Denbigh Athletic.
