FORMER Mold and Wrexham players are part of the Wales squad for the forthcoming U20 Six Nations.
Tom Cottle, a former Castell Alun High School student, came through the ranks at Mold and he is part of head coach Richard Whiffin’s 41-strong squad.
Wrexham’s Carwyn Edwards, now with Cardiff Met University, is also included in the squad.
Jack Harrison, the Wrexham captain, said: “It was a proud week for the club with one of our own Carwyn Edwards being named in the Wales U20s squad for the upcoming Six Nations series.
“Carwyn has been involved in the club from a young age as well as representing Sale Sharks academy. He is now based down at Cardiff Met University and will no doubt do the club proud in the coming weeks.”
Wales will kick-off their campaign in France tomorrow evening and RGC’s Dylan Alford (pictured left) is also in the squad.
RGC director of rugby Josh Leach said: “I want to congratulate Dylan and Tom on their selection for Wales U20. Both lads have shown a great attitude throughout their time in the pathway, and were outstanding as a second row combination in last year’s U18 regional age grade competition.
“Dylan has had some recent exposure in the SRC competition and has adapted well to the physicality of the senior rugby. Tom has been training regularly with the SRC group this season too and has shown the level of his knowledge and skills during lineout sessions.
“We are all looking forward to seeing the lads representing their country.”
Scotland have home advantage against Italy in tonight’s game.
