TWO strikers won't be heading back to Wrexham this month.
Billy Waters' loan spell at Halifax Town has come to an end but the 30-year-old is set to complete a permanent move to another National League club, with Oldham Athletic rumoured to be his next port of call, while Jake Bickerstaff's loan stint with Altrincham - another fifth tier club - has been extended until the end of the season.
Since arriving at The Racecourse in March 2023, Waters has found opportunities limited while Bickerstaff has also slipped down the pecking order, and Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is hoping the duo enjoy a successful second half of the season.
"Billy's got a move lined up elsewhere so hopefully we'll be sorting that out in the next 24 hours," said the Reds' boss.
"Billy had to get himself going in the first part of the season which he has done and then he's attracted interest from a few clubs.
"It's up to Billy now to decide what's the next stage of his career.
"Jake is going to stay at Altrincham until the end of the season.
"He had some other options but he's enjoyed it there, even though his game-time has not been where he wants it to be.
"But he's confident he can push in the team in the second part of the season."
Wrexham have the option to recall striker Sam Dalby and midfielder Jordan Davies from season-long loans at Dundee United and Grimsby Town respectively now that the January transfer window has opened.
Dalby is joint top scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 10 goals and Davies is back in the Mariners squad after recovering from injury.
"We are going to make a decision on Sam this week," said Parkinson, who confirmed Davies will remain with Grimsby until the end of the season
"Jordan's staying at Grimsby. The injury was a blow because he had a brilliant staff, getting those two goals," he added.
"The injury set him back but he's been part of the team which has done well this season so far and it's good for Jordan.
"Jordan was at a stage in his career where he needed to go and play, and he would have played a lot more without his injury.
"He needs to be involved and it's an important second part of the season for him.
"Now he's got a chance to get as many starts as he can from now until the end of the season, and make an impact."
