PHIL PARKINSON will take stock of the situation before deciding where Sam Dalby will spend the rest of the campaign.
The striker has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Dundee United and is top of the Scottish Premiership scoring charts with 10 goals.
Although Dalby, who won November's Scottish top flight player of the month award, is due to spend the season at Tannadice Park, there is the option to recall the 25-year-old this month.
Parkinson was non-committal when asked whether Dalby would return to boost Wrexham's promotion challenge in League One.
"Sam is there for the season, there is the opportunity to call him back and we're just going to weigh everything up," said the Reds' boss.
"Be fair to Dundee United because they have been great for him and be fair to Sam as well.
"He's a player we rate but we just felt it was time for him to go and be someone's number nine.
"He needed that and what a great loan move it''s been for him so far.
"He's done really well but we felt he would if given a run of games. He's got real quality and it was great for us to watch the game the other night and to see him keep getting goals."
Brought in from Southend United in the summer of 2022, Dalby helped Wrexham clinch back-to-back promotions and Parkinson hopes he continues to score goals wherever he plays his football.
"Sam's all-round game was always good," said the Reds' boss. "His hold-up play, his intelligence out of possession for the team and tactical awareness is good.
"He's had some key moments for us but probably not as many as he would have liked, but that can be the life of the striker sometimes.
"Now his movement in the six yard box has been brilliant, he's got that scent for goals and I'm sure it will continue."
Wrexham face Port Vale at Vale Park in tomorrow night's EFL Trophy round of 16 tie and Parkinson added: "We want to get Tuesday's game out of the way and then just sit down - myself and the owners - and say 'let's look at our squad, where are we going to go for the second part of the season in terms of the squad numbers?'.
"There's other players who may need to go out on loan who haven't had much game-time and we're just going to make decisions."
