PHIL PARKINSON has welcomed having a free midweek heading into the busy festive period.
Wrexham, third in League One and two points behind leaders Wycombe Wanderers, kick-off a run of four games in 12 days with Saturday's trip to Bristol Rovers.
That is followed by back-to-back home matches against Blackpool on Boxing Day and Wigan Athletic on Sunday December 29, with the Reds completing the schedule with a clash away to Barnsley on New Year's Day.
Wrexham have played on four of the last five Tuesdays so Parkinson is pleased to have a free week ahead of the matches over Christmas, and he also hopes to have midfielder George Evans available after missing more than two months with damaged ankle ligaments.
"I think leading into the Christmas period it's good to to have that break," said the Reds' boss. "We can just get ready and prepare.
"We've got a reserve game on Tuesday which hopefully George Evans will play so that gives us another body going into the Christmas period.
"We'll have a good week and we'll be ready for action come Saturday against Bristol Rovers.
"It's a busy schedule coming up but we have got the squad to cope with that, and that's what football's all about.
"It's all about enjoying that; the lads love playing games and as a manager and staff, we enjoy matchdays.
"The games come thick and fast but everyone knows the schedule at the start of the season and we are ready for each one as they come along."
Experienced striker Steven Fletcher made his third substitute appearance since returning from a knee injury in Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Cambridge and he scored Wrexham's second goal.
It was the first time Fletcher has found the back of the net since the opening day of the season and Parkinson is delighted to have the 37-year-old back in the ranks.
"Fletch has been training more recently than we've been able to get into him and that's obviously pleasing," added Parkinson.
"He's such a threat. He's got so many qualities and he was unlucky not to score last week, the keeper's made a good save from him, but it was a very cool finish with his right foot."
