IT has been double derby delight for Brymbo.

Twenty-four hours on from defeating Gresford in North Wales League action, Brymbo also got the better of their local rivals in the Welsh Cup.

Gresford opted to bat first after winning the toss and they were dismissed for 134.

Opener Robert Clark top scored with 44, while four other batsmen managed to reach double figures.

Ioan Craven-Jones (3-27), Adam De Rycke (2-22) and Chris Taylor (2-26) were the pick of Brymbo’s attack.

Brymbo, semi-finalists in the competition last season, replied with 138 for one. Mohamed Nilam Jayman struck 52 and Sam Aplin (pictured) finished on 53 not out, with the pair providing a first wicket stand of 93. Taylor struck an undefeated 24 in just 12 deliveries.

Owain Walker picked up the solitary wicket to fall.

Rain halted St Asaph’s cup meeting with Llandudno, while North Wales League leaders Mochdre defeated Liverpool Competition Colwyn Bay by 49 runs.

Skipper Joe Chaplin hit 59 not out in Mochdre’s 153 for five, before Colwyn Bay were dismissed for 104.

North Wales over-50s have celebrated their first victory.

Newly formed this season, the North Wales side managed to secure a six-wicket win in their encounter versus Wales Fourths.

Filgi Varghese (66) and Richard Meggitt (47) were the main contributors as the Welsh side was dismissed for 199.

Stewart Williams (4-24), Jon Eccles (2-26) and Matt Bixby (2-31) impressed with the ball.

Williams’ brilliant 102 not out from just 66 deliveries led North Wales to a winning 203 for four. Bixby (65) and Gary Mayers (23) also played their part during the chase.
