ANDY CANNON doesn't want the season to end - even if the midfielder is looking forward to a well-earned break.

The 28-year-old has been in excellent form in the second half of the campaign and played his part in Wrexham clinching a top-three finish in League Two to secure back-to-back promotions.

Playing in a more advanced midfield role for most of the season, Cannon bagged eight goals in all competitions.

Five of those came in the last eight games, including the late winner in Saturday's 2-1 final day victory against champions Stockport County at The Racecourse.

The Wrexham players will celebrate their promotion success in Las Vegas and enjoy the summer break but Cannon admits part of him wants to continue playing because he's in such a rich vein of form, especially in front of goal.

"We are going to Vegas and I will have a good time with everyone," said Cannon.

"But I don't want the season to stop right now personally. I have added goals to my game and I have enjoyed every second of it.

"At the same time, everyone needs a well-deserved rest as well because boys are playing through pain every game.

"I have been going through pain every game, It might not look it.

"It is very tough and people on the outside don't know the ins and outs but we go into every game and everyone isn't 100 per cent all the time.

"But we have got good mentality, the players are willing to go out and give it their all."

Cannon scored the winner against Stockport with two minutes to go, finding the back of the net with a powerful shot that gave goalkeeper Ben Hinchliffe no chance.

George Evans has played as the holding midfielder, allowing Cannon to play further forward and it is something he's thrived on.

"It was a good finish and to get the winner was a good moment," he added. "I have not been known for scoring a lot of goals.

"I have either been switched around quite a bit at previous clubs or not played further forward.

"My favourite position is going further forward and causing people problems attacking;

"I have been playing further forward and obviously going further forward up the pitch, you have got more chance of scoring.

"It is nice to add goals to the collection with the other lads who have contributed and help on that side as well."
