JOSH WILLIAMS hopes his Welsh Cup final memories of six years ago are repeated in Sunday’s showdown with treble-chasing The New Saints.

Nomads tackle TNS, who beat them in the league a week ago, at Newport’s Rodney Parade ground (5.25pm kick off).

Teenager Williams will be a key player for Neil Gibson’s side and the 19-year-old remembers Nomads’ Welsh Cup final triumph against Aberystwyth Town in 2018.

“Being at the club since under 8s has meant I’ve seen the club win this trophy - in 2018 against Aber watching the first team live winning this competition gives you that feeling of how much it actually meant to everyone and gave me an understanding of what the club wants to achieve,” Williams told the Nomads’ website.

“Getting into the cup final is always a special feeling. It was one of our goals that we set at the start of the season to try and win the Welsh Cup and we are one game away.

“Our Welsh Cup run this year has been great - we’ve played really well in every round but the standout moment has to be beating Bala in the semi-final as they were the team that knocked us out last year.

“I think that game showed the character we have in the dressing room to keep trying and trying to get that goal so late on in the game.”
