IT'S been another season to remember and Ollie Palmer wants to reward Wrexham supporters with one more win.

Phil Parkinson's men take on rivals Stockport County at The Racecourse in the final match of the League Two campaign with automatic promotion already in the bag.

Wrexham thrashed Forrest Green Rovers 6-0 a fortnight ago to secure a top-three finish with two games to spare, clinching back-to-back promotions for the first time in the club's history.

Palmer has played his part in helping Wrexham go up to League One where they will be joined by Stockport who have been crowned champions, and the striker is targeting a final day victory which would see the Reds end as runners-up if Mansfield dropped points at seventh placed Barrow who are looking to book a play-off spot.

"We are going to focus on Stockport because we want to win that home game as well," said Palmer.

"There's no secret there's a rivalry there so we want to win like we want to win every game.

"We want to finish with maximum points and we want to give the fans a great day for the final day of the season.

"We want to finish as high as we can with as many points as we can."

Wrexham were pipped to the National League title by Stockport two years ago but the Reds achieved the same feat following a record-breaking 2022-23 campaign, and have gone straight up once again.

Stockport booked their place in the third tier as champions but Palmer is proud of the fact that Wrexham have enjoyed successive promotions.

"There's rivalry with Stockport, their manager has been disrespectful to our club in the past and we are all aware of that," said the frontman.

"They have won the league so credit to them, well done, but we have both achieved the same thing at the end of the day and we have done it back-to-back.

"What we have done is incredible. Only a couple of teams have done back-to-back promotions.

"We want to win the game and put on a good display for our fans. I am sure Stockport will want to do the same and it will be a great game."

There was no hangover after clinching a top-three finish as Wrexham produced a fantastic performance last weekend against play-off contenders Crewe Alexandra, winning 3-0 with Palmer opening the scoring before having an assist for strike partner Paul Mullin.

Palmer says there was no way that the players were going to take their foot off the gas.

"Credit to the players and the staff on what we set out to achieve," said the 32-year-old, who has scored seven goals this season.

"We got promoted and the gaffer put that to bed on the Tuesday morning. He said: 'right lads, well done. Unbelievable effort. We are going to Crewe now and we are going to win that game'.

"Everyone 100 per cent focussed and that's what it was. We were delighted to get another three points."
