MIKE CUNNINGHAM’S farewell tour is proving to be a huge hit - and he’s prepared to offer some advice to a managerial giant!

Cunningham, who is to leave his role as Mold Alex boss at the end of the season, has won two cups over the past month and he’s hoping to make it a trophy treble in the North East Wales FA Cup before the end of the campaign.

Cymru North Mold host North East Wales League Premier Division outfit Rhostyllen in this evening’s quarter-final and Cunningham told the club’s Facebook page: “I’ll have to give Jurgen Klopp some tips now on how to win two trophies on your farewell tour, not just the one!”

The manager was speaking after his Mold side stunned Cymru South champions Briton Ferry Llansawel 4-2 to claim the all-Wales Cymru League Cup at Newtown’s Latham Park.

This followed on from Mold defeating Llandudno to claim this season’s Cymru North Cup.

Danny Warren’s first half double was key to the all-Wales success and Cunningham has been full of praise for the whole club in securing success.

He added: “As it has been since I’ve been here, certainly sort of the last four years, it’s been an absolute team effort from the boys on the pitch, the boys out of it supporting.

“You know, it’s been absolutely fantastic and it’s great to see. The fans as well pushing us on and to see their faces smiling again.”

Rhostyllen head into the game on the back of a 4-3 win at Castell Alun that moved them to within seven points of long-term leaders Corwen.

They also have the league’s joint top scorer in the ranks after Tom Douglas added two more to his 18-goal tally at the weekend.

Rhostyllen go into the game as underdogs and boss Dan Richards knows just how hard their task will be against a Mold side who secured a top four Cymru North finish.

“Mold are fourth in the Cymru North table so it shows how strong an outfit they are,” said Richards.

In Cymru North action, Denbigh Town are at home to Bangor 1876 while Llanidloes Town go to Caersws.

There are three games in the North East Wales League’s Premier Division tonight where four teams are battling it out for a top three finish.

Two of them meet at Caerwys where Mynydd Isa are the visitors.

Third-placed Penyffordd Lions go to Lex XI while Connah’s Quay Town, in fourth, host Greenfield.

In the Championship, Gronant are at home to Yr Wyddgrug.

Rhos Aelwyd are in Ardal North East League action tonight at Llansantffraid while Llanrhaeadr go to Llanfair United.

In the FAW Reserves North League, Airbus head to Ruthin Town.
