CUP glory part two has been achieved by Mold Alex - this time on a national scale.

Weeks after lifting the Cymru North Cup at Denbigh, Mike Cunningham’s charges stunned Cymru South champions Briton Ferry Llansawel 4-2 to claim the all-Wales Cymru League Cup at Newtown’s Latham Park.

It was Danny Warren at the double to help Mold to continue their stunning season and team boss Cunningham, who is departing at the end of the season, was a proud man after the final whistle.

He told the club’s Facebook page: “Unbelievably proud of the boys. We had a game plan.

“We looked at certain things through the week. We had a few videos we could watch, a few highlights, etc and it’s down to the boys that cross that white line. They executed it fantastically. They’ve ran themselves into the ground.

“They wanted to feel what we felt in Denbigh again and they’ve done it. They were absolutely brilliant, so it’s really hard to sum up.”

Jake Roberts and Rhys Nash added second half strikes for the winners, while Luke Bowen netted twice for the Cymru South champions.

Ardal North East League leaders Penrhyncoch, meanwhile lost a nine goal thriller in the Welsh Trophy final at Latham Park.

James Bloom hit a stoppage time winner as Newport City sealed a last-gasp 5-4 win in Newtown.
