KEREN ALLEN has urged Wrexham to be more ruthless with their opportunities after the side ended the Adran Premier campaign with defeat away to champions Cardiff City.

Playing at the Cardiff City Stadium, it was the hosts who claimed a 5-1 win to end their memorable league season on a high. Rhianne Oakley, Mikayla Cook, Siobhan Walsh, Eliza Collie and Olivia Basham netted for Cardiff, while Carra Jones grabbed a superb consolation for the Reds.

Captain Allen told the club’s YouTube channel: “It just comes down to being clinical at the end of the day. They punished us for our mistakes and we didn’t punish them and that’s something that we need to learn and grow, and start being a bit more ruthless.

“We had lots of chances, to be honest, and I just think if we put those chances away, it would have been a very different game.”

While Wrexham came up short against the champions, it’s been a pleasing first season back in the top flight for Steve Dale’s side, who finish up in third place.

“Obviously, I’m really proud of the girls,” added Allen, who can now look ahead to a Welsh Cup final meeting with Cardiff early next month.

“I don’t think many people expected us to come into this league and get a top-three finish. So, credit where credit’s due there and I think we’ve kind of disrupted the league and that’s what we’re here to do and I think the final’s another time to just let’s disrupt and just show them what we’re made of and actually be clinical and do what we’re here to do.

“I think it will be a very different game, because finals always are. So, I think, don’t count us out.”

Aberystwyth and Swansea City played out a 0-0 draw.
