PHIL PARKINSON insists Wrexham won't get carried away after clinching a 2-0 win against League Two promotion rivals Mansfield Town at The Racecourse.

Leading scorer Paul Mullin struck either side of the break, taking his tally for the season to 20 goals and 99 for the club since his arrival from Cambridge United in the summer of 2021, to secure a second successive success.

Victory keeps Wrexham third in the table but level on points with Mansfield who dropped to second. Both sides are just a point behind leaders Stockport County who have a game in hand.

It's tight at the top with fourth placed MK Dons three points adrift of the Reds having played a match more while Barrow and Crewe Alexandra are also challenging for a top-three finish.

Wrexham have six games remaining and despite sealing a big win against the Stags, Parkinson is keeping his feet on the ground with the competition for automatic promotion so fierce.

"We had to dig deep in terms of concentration levels as well as the physicality and it is a hard-earned victory," said the Reds' boss, whose side return to action at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening.

"We didn't get too down when we lost to Tranmere here, we assessed that in a very calm, calculated way, so we are not going to get too high after today.

"It is another game chalked off - that's six to go - and obviously it's a win against one of our rivals.

"But now it is about preparation for what will be a terrific game at Doncaster on Tuesday.

"It is a very competitive division but we knew that at the start.

"There are a lot of teams who have been in the division for a long time and been building for years, like Mansfield, to have a season like this.

"It’s competitive but we are enjoying it, the lads are relishing every single game and they take a lot of heart from today.”
