THERE were mixed emotions from Lili Jones following her excellent impact at the STōK Cae Ras on Sunday.

Jones had Wrexham ahead in the first half courtesy of a stunning chip from 40 yards, however it was visitors Swansea City who took the Adran Premier spoils 3-2, bagging a stoppage time winner courtesy of Ellie Lake in front of over 2,000 spectators.

Jones told the club’s YouTube channel: “I said if I score I’ll actually cry, because it means so much to score somewhere like here in front of where I usually sit to watch the lads.

“I’ve just seen her off her line. I told Amber (Lightfoot) to move and it was a good goal to be fair. But, I wish it was a win, really.”

Robyn Pinder’s penalty levelled things up for the Swans prior to half-time, while a brilliant strike from distance by Monet Legall had the second-placed visitors in front.

The Reds’ response was a brilliant one, though, and they made it two-apiece with 10 minutes left to play through Rosie Hughes.

Wrexham had their chances after this, but two minutes into stoppage time, Lake’s cross from the right crept in at the far post.

“It was a great day and, you know, playing in The Racecourse is always nice,” added Jones.

“I think we dominated. I thought we were good first half and we definitely dominated second half.

“But we just keep making stupid mistakes and we get punished and that’s what it’s like in phase two.

“Plenty of positives, but we’ve got to start being more clinical in front of goal. But, it was a good day, really.”

There’s a quick turnaround for Wrexham, who travel to Aberystwyth Town tomorrow evening.

Connah’s Quay Nomads strengthened their push for a top-two Adran North finish with a 3-0 win at Llanfair United. Goals from Aimee Redfern, Sophie Rawling and Alisha Whitehead-Hughes did the trick for Nomads.
