TAKE a bow Lili Jones!

The midfielder supplied the stand-out moment during Wrexham’s return to play at the STōK Cae Ras.

A year on from taking on Connah’s Quay at the iconic venue, Swansea City were the Adran Premier League visitors for yesterday’s big clash and they kept their title hopes alive with a thrilling 3-2 triumph in front of a crowd of just over 2,000.

With a goal she will remember forever, Jones gave the Reds the lead midway through the first half.

Jones brilliantly chipped visiting keeper Chelsea Herbert from 40 yards to give Steve Dale’s hosts the lead.

Title-chasing Swansea were back on level terms after half-an-hour.

The away side was awarded a penalty, which was converted by Robyn Pinder.

Pinder and Jess Williams had other attempts for the Swans as the half continued, while captain Katy Hosford flashed a dangerous cross just across the face of the goal during the last meaningful act prior to the break.

Wrexham enjoyed a bright start to the second half and Brooke Cairns broke through to force Herbert into a save.

The next goal was likely to prove crucial to the outcome and it went in Swansea’s favour in the 55th minute.

Monet Legall found the target with a fine hit.

The Reds’ response was a brilliant one, though, and they made it two-apiece with 10 minutes left to play.

Carra Jones put in a brilliant cross and top markswoman Rosie Hughes was there to head the ball into the net.

Wrexham produced a strong spell late on, with Lili Jones’ strike from the edge of the box looking destined for the bottom corner of the net until it was hacked off the line.

Then, TJ Dickens’ corner caused chaos before the ball was bundled away.

There was heartbreak for the Reds two minutes into stoppage time, though, as Ellie Lake’s cross from the right crept in at the far post.
