WREXHAM have enjoyed a terrific first season in the Adran Premier League, but they have found themselves on the wrong end of a heaviest loss of the campaign.

Cardiff City, the Reds’ opponents in the final of the Welsh Cup in May, are favourites to lift this season’s crown and they moved themselves eight points clear at the top with a 6-1 success at The Rock.

The Reds enjoyed a bright start and Lili Jones’ seventh minute effort was saved by Ceryn Chamberlain.

Three minutes later and Cardiff had the lead with Eliza Collie on the scoresheet.

However, Wrexham hauled themselves back level within a couple of minutes. Liv Fuller was fouled in the box for a penalty to be awarded and Rosie Hughes tucked away the spot-kick.

Cardiff were back into the lead in the 18th minute via Rhianne Oakley’s strike.

The hosts looked to level again prior to the interval and Amber Lightfoot’s attempt with 10 minutes of the first half remaining ended up just wide.

Cardiff went further ahead nine minutes into the second half through Molly Kehoe and the title favourites took complete control in the closing quarter-of-an-hour.

Collie struck twice more to complete her hat-trick, while there was another goal from Oakley.

Connah’s Quay Nomads maintained their hopes of a top-two Adran North finish with a 3-2 triumph at home to Bangor.

Elana Harley’s early strike gave Nomads the lead at the break. Cerys MacDonald’s penalty hauled Bangor level, however efforts from Anais Bathily and Sophie Rawling confirmed Nomads’ ninth win of the campaign, with Menna Evans netting a stoppage time consolation.

Llandudno clinched the championship with a thrilling 4-3 victory versus Y Felinheli. Kelsey Davies’ goal five minutes from time made sure of the title.

Rhyl 1879 claimed a 3-1 win at NFA, while North East Wales League champions Flint Town United made it 11 wins out of 11 for the campaign courtesy of a 8-2 win win over Welshpool. The points were in the bag by half-time, with Flint four goals ahead. Zoe Stopford, Daisy Hughes (2) and Jennifer Haynes found the target. Ruby McGilloway, Tegan Crockett, Jasmine Edwards and Erin Heathcote added second half efforts.

Bellevue lost out 8-0 in their meeting with Denbigh Town.

It ended up 2-2 in the Adran U19s’ North League clash between The New Saints and Wrexham on Friday evening.

Fifteen-year-old Hannah Slack scored both of the Reds’ goals.
