MAX CLEWORTH believes the electric atmosphere in tomorrow's derby can help drive Wrexham onto another vital win in pursuit of promotion.

Phil Parkinson's men face Tranmere Rovers at The Racecourse, with the Reds aiming to do the double over their local rivals after winning 1-0 in the reverse fixture last September.

Another bumper crowd will be present and Cleworth is relishing playing in the derby as high-flying Wrexham, with nine games remaining, continue the quest for a top-three finish.

"There is a rivalry, Tranmere is not too far away," said Cleworth.

"It was a proper away performance at Tranmere with great support.

"It will be the same this weekend. The fans will be up for it and so will their fans.

"That bit of bite in the game, our fans will be even more up for it.

"It is another exciting game at The Racecourse and one we will be ready for."

Wrexham were held to a goalless draw by Harrogate Town on Tuesday but the Reds closed the gap on leaders Mansfield Town to two points after the Stags lost 2-1 at Tranmere.

"Tranmere will be for it after that result," said Cleworth.

"They have got some very good players, we will do our work and hopefully be firing for Saturday."

Despite only drawing with mid-table Harrogate, Wrexham remain in the top-three where they are battling it out with Mansfield, Stockport County, Crewe Alexandra and MK Dons for automatic promotion.

"MK Dons lost and Mansfield lost on Tuesday, Crewe won," said Cleworth.

"Some results went our way and some didn't but let's just focus on ourselves and take care of what we can control.

"There will be twists and turns so we just keep fighting as a team.

"We have just got to keep taking it one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves, and see where we end up."

Although they were solid defensively, Wrexham lacked a cutting edge against Harrogate and Cleworth says it's not often the Reds fail to score at The Racecourse where they boast an impressive record over the last few seasons.

"It was a bit frustrating," said Cleworth.

"You can see it as a point gained and a clean sheet but we had chances, especially in the second half.

"We were sloppy at times in the first half and second half, we came out flying out of the traps but just couldn't get the ball in the back of the net which happens, but we didn't lose.

"It hasn't happened many times over the last few years where we have not been able to score at home, it was one of those rare occasions and we move onto Saturday."
