WREXHAM beat Morecambe 3-1 at The Mazuma Stadium to make it two wins in a row and continue the promotion push in League Two.

Victory over the Shrimps, who are chasing a play-off spot, keeps the Reds three points behind leaders Mansfield in third place, on the same number of points as Stockport County who sit second, and two points ahead of fourth placed MK Dons.

Phil Parkinson's men had to come from behind to secure the points against Morecambe.

After a poor start to proceedings, captain James McClean equalised for Wrexham before the break and Morecambe were left with 10 men early in the second half.

Wrexham took advantage by going ahead when top scorer Paul Mullin put away a penalty for his 17th goal of the season, while substitute Steven Fletcher made sure of victory when he struck in the final 10 minutes.

The Reds have 10 games remaining in the quest for a second successive promotion.

Parkinson named the same side that started the brilliant 4-0 win against Accrington the previous weekend and the substitutes bench was also unchanged.

But Wrexham got off to the worst possible start as Morecambe, thrashed 6-0 in November's reverse fixture at The Racecourse, took a fourth minute lead.

Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo failed to collect a ball into the area and Gerard Garner took advantage by firing into the bottom corner.

Wrexham struggled to get a foothold in the game after going behind with Morecambe on top.

McClean's free-kick into the area was a bit too high for Will Boyle who headed wide and Wrexham needed Max Cleworth to made a vital clearance to stop the home side getting in again.

The Reds had appeals for a penalty waved away when McClean went down under Jacob Bedeau's challenge while a promising Reds' move ended with Andy Cannon's cross deflected behind for a corner which came to nothing.

However, Wrexham equalised in the 32nd minute.

Mullin latched onto a poor Bedeau backpass and ran down the left before squaring to McClean who smashed the ball past keeper Archie Mair.

Wrexham continued to go at Morecambe and Cannon fired wide before Mair made a superb double save to deny Mullin and Ryan Barnett.

It was much better by Wrexham who continued to keep the pressure on and Mullin's free-kick was too high but it remained all-square at the break.

The Reds picked up where they left off when the action resumed with Cleworth heading over the bar from Elliot Lee's corner and Cannon's 25-yard drive parried by Mair.

But Morecambe found themselves down to 10 men on four minutes into the second half when Max Melbourne was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Ollie Palmer and sent-off.

Wrexham continued to keep Morecambe on the back-foot and the Reds made it 2-1 on 55 minutes.

Lee's shot was handled in the area by David Tutonda, who had only just come on as substitute, and Mullin converted the resulting penalty.

It was all Wrexham who were playing some good football and came close when Jacob Mendy's cross was nodded down by Barnett and Mullin's effort was tipped around the post by Mair.

Morecambe had a chance when Bedeau's header was brilliantly tipped behind by Okonkwo while Mullin was denied by Mair at the other end.

Wrexham continued to have the upper hand and the Reds made it 3-1 after 80 minutes.

McClean delivered a cross from Lee's short corner which was headed home by Fletcher.

It was job done then with Lee unable to keep a shot down as Wrexham ran out deserved winners.
