AMBER LIGHTFOOT says Wrexham are “buzzing” after booking their place in the final of the Welsh Women’s Cup.

Steve Dale’s Reds will tackle Cardiff City in the showpiece final in early May after they battled to a 1-0 win over The New Saints in the semi-finals.

Rosie Hughes’ goal towards the end of the first half settled the tie, while Lightfoot went so close late on when her effort struck the post.

Lightfoot told the club’s YouTube channel: “We’re all so buzzing. You know, to play Cardiff in the final, it’s going to be a massive occasion.

“The girls did really well today. We had to hang on at times, but we’re through to the next round, so that’s the main thing.”

Liv Fuller, who played for 45 minutes of the last-four clash as she continues her comeback from injury, added: “Massive day. I’m over the moon to get into the final.

“I think we played fantastic, started really well. First half, we were solid.

“Good to get the goal just before half-time and then second half, we were able to keep on to the win. So, really proud of the girls.”

Wrexham will take on Cardiff in the final on May 5, following the conclusion of the Adran Premier campaign.

Prior to their final appearance, the Reds have six big league encounters to play in, starting with Sunday’s clash away to second-placed Swansea City at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport.

Third-placed Wrexham trail Swansea by three points and they’re eight points adrift of title favourites Cardiff.
