YOU won't find Andy Cannon stressing if Wrexham's rivals win a game during the run-in or the Reds suffer a blip in the promotion race.

The competition for a top-three finish in League Two is fierce with a number of teams battling it out to go straight up to the third tier and avoid the lottery of the play-offs.

Wrexham had a mixed bag of results in February when the games came thick and fast but Phil Parkinson's men remained well-placed in the quest for a second successive promotion.

The Reds have nine games remaining and Cannon expects more twists and turns before the regular season ends on Saturday April 27, when title rivals Stockport County are the visitors at The Racecourse.

"It will keep chopping and changing up there, that is football," said the midfielder.

"One minute is looks like you are in a good spot but one loss and it looks like it is not going your way.

"But vice-versa, you get one win and it looks like you are in a better position.

"I know it is cliche to say it but we have just got to take it game by game and just do what we can do.

"Don't worry about the other teams and hopefully we keep gathering the wins together to leave us in good stead come the end of the season."

Wrexham were involved in a thrilling two-horse race with Notts County for the National League title last season, with the Reds coming out on top.

There are more teams in the mix and three automatic promotion places up for grabs in League Two but Cannon's attitude remains the same - just concentrate on yourselves.

"It is a different league and better teams," said Cannon, who celebrated his 28th birthday yesterday.

"Down to fifth or sixth place, everyone is within touching distance of the top-three spaces.

"We can't do anything with the other results, we have just got to focus on ourselves, keep on trying to play well and put in good performances, and hopefully get a lot of wins up until the end of the season."

It's a crucial time in the quest for a place in League One but Cannon, who played in the EFL for Hull City, Portsmouth and Rochdale before joining Wrexham in December 2022, won't be going into his shell.

"You want to be at a club that is striving to achieve things," he added.

"As a player you want to be pushing towards the top end of the table and try to be successful.

"There is pressure when you are a team at the top but we have just got to keep cool, keep calm and go about business the way we know we can.

"It's crunch time but these are the games as players that you want to be playing in because we know the atmosphere is going to be great in all the games.

"We have just got to show our quality and show what we have got in the team to get us over the line."
