TWO out of three ain’t bad for Wrexham AAC!

A trio of club members were members of the Welsh masters team at the British masters inter-area challenge, in Lee Valley, with two of them claiming triumphs.

Neil Davies won the M55 400-metres in a time of 61.63, while there was double joy for Amanda Cook in the W45 60-metre hurdles (10.47) and triple jump (9.43m). Also competing was Amanda Broadhurst in the W50 category, claiming second in the high jump (1.25m) and third in the triple jump (9.43m).

Over in America and Amber Simpson finished eighth with her effort of 20.12-metres in the senior women’s weight throw at the Big Ten Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

Rhyl staged the North Wales 10-mile championships, with two Wrexham members receiving club trophies.

Deb Pugh (106th in 83.36) is the recipient of the Elaine Williams Trophy, while the Allan Lock Rosebowl Trophy is awarded to Gwyn Roberts, who was 118th in 85.26. Second W50 was Anna Moccia (85.27).

It was also an awarding time for three Deestriders. Alan Latham clocked 63.46 for a new club MV45 record and a silver in his category, while there was also a silver for Paul Lyth, whose personal best of 74.18 was a new club MV50 record. Meanwhile, Les Price (94.56) took North Wales MV40 silver.

Deeside hosted the latest fixture in the Borders Road Race League.

Buckley Runners’ men ran out winners by more than 200 points from Wallasey AC, which gives the team a 790-point lead going into the final race.

Ricky Challinor was fourth overall, ahead of David White (10th), Chris Myles (16th), first MV45 Chris Callaghan (20th), Elliot Cox (25th), Sam Bellis (43rd), first MV50 Simon Roberts (47th), Liam Rogan (49th), Sean Truett (50th), first MV50 Jez Brown (54th) and Gerard Coleman (55th).

Five top-20 finishes helped Wrexham’s men to fourth place in Division Two.

Leading the charge was runner-up Ryan Davis (22.23), ahead of Ben Goodfellow (sixth in 23.15), Luke Northall (eighth in 23.27), Connor Rogers (13th in 23.51) and James Yarwood (14th in 23.54).

Wrexham’s women finished fifth in Division Two, with Claire Purdie (27th in 31.36) the leading light, followed by Immy Jones (29th in 31.46), Erin Smith (31st in 31.50) and Sarah Grimshaw (86th in 37.31).

Two Wrexham racers tackled the Sheeptracks fell races. James Miles (4-03.44) was 16th in the 28k event, with Linda Jones (3-31.35) seventh in the 20k race.

Glyn Wise (20.22) was fifth at the most recent Llangollen parkrun, while Mike Robbins (26.32) was 12th at Wepre.

Peter Sussex (40th in 26.45) was the leading Wrexham racer at Erddig and three club members claimed lofty finishes at the Alyn Waters junior parkrun.

Runner-up was Grace Hughes (8.33), ahead of Ellis Jones (third in 9.16) and George Hughes (fourth in 9.41).
