JORDAN TUNNICLIFFE believes being involved in a thrilling title race last season will stand Wrexham in good stead as they aim to close in on a second successive promotion.

Wrexham go into tonight's clash against lowly Forest Green Rovers on the back of Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Gillingham which leaves the Reds fourth in League Two, four points behind Mansfield Town who are top on goal difference from Stockport County,

Phil Parkinson's men have a game in hand on the Hatters and third placed Crewe Alexandra, who are two points ahead of Wrexham, while MK Dons and Barrow are also challenging for a top-three finish.

It's all to play for going into the final two months of the season and Tunnicliffe says the experience of fighting it out with Notts County for the National League title in a record-breaking 2022-23 campaign will prove to be invaluable as Wrexham go into their last 13 games.

"The lads know how to deal with the pressure," said the centre-back.

"There was loads of pressure on us last season and we had to go into every game knowing that we needed to get three points.

"Maybe we need to change our mentality to that, that every game is a must-win game.

"Last season will stand us in good stead going forward because the lads know how to handle the pressure and how to win games.

"I know it is boring but you just have to concentrate on each game as it comes, and focus on getting the next three points on Tuesday."

Wrexham can close the gap on the joint leaders to one point with a win this evening and although Tunnicliffe won't be taking second bottom Rovers for granted, he is looking to bounce back from the Gillingham defeat before returning to The Racecourse on Saturday when Accrington Stanley are the visitors.

"It's a tough league and there are some good teams," he said.

"Us and Notts County have come up and we've not blown it away like we did last season. There are no easy games.

"Saturday has gone now and it is how we respond.

"We have got a game on Tuesday and Saturday so if we maximum points from the two games, the table looks good again."

Wrexham lacked a cutting edge against Gillingham who scored the only goal 10 minutes into the second half after the Reds failed to deal with a free-kick.

"It was a really good game first half," added Tunnicliffe.

"We had a few good counter attacks and probably should have broken the deadlock.

"Unfortunately we conceded the goal in the first 10 minutes of the second half and it was disappointing that we conceded from a set-piece.

"They slowed the game down after that and made it difficult for us.

"The lads are just pleased there is a game on Tuesday and hopefully we can put it right.

"It will be a tough game at Forest Green but we will be doing everything we can to try and get three points."
