DEESIDE DRAGONS will go into their testing trip to Billingham Stars on the back of a couple of wins.

While that is a positive aspect, unfortunately the side will also have to head to the NIHL Division One North leaders following a two-week break.

That’s not ideal, with the match-up scheduled to take place on March 3.

“I wish we could go to Billingham next week,” admitted Deeside’s assistant head coach Matt Compton. “Hopefully, we can keep some of that momentum going into Billingham. I believe we can beat anyone in the league when we are on it. What the club has built over sort of 18 months since getting back up and running is fantastic. We are building something really, really good.”

Over the weekend, the Dragons defeated Sheffield Scimitars 13-5, with Alex Parry (pictured above) helping himself to a couple of the goals. They followed this up with a hard-fought 4-2 success at home to Hull Jets to maintain their play-off push.

Saturday was also a big day as it marked a first senior appearance for forward Cory Ogden, from the Deeside junior set-up.

“Having Cody coming through from the junior club shows things are trending in the right way,” added Compton.

“Hopefully, he’s the first of many more to come through. It was a really good job on Sunday. Hull are a very good side.”
