PHIL PARKINSON described the atmosphere created by supporters in Saturday's hard-fought 1-0 victory against Notts County was the best he has experienced at The Racecourse this season.

Steven Fletcher's seventh goal of the season in the 20th minute was the difference between the sides as Wrexham clinched a second League Two win in a row and climbed up to third in the table, three points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand.

More than 12,500 fans packed into the iconic north Wales stadium and is was an occasion Parkinson thoroughly enjoyed.

"It was a true Wrexham performance with a fantastic atmosphere," said the Reds' boss.

"I enjoyed every single minute on that touchline and I thought the atmosphere was probably the best one we have had this season.

"You could sense how up for the game the supporters were and they roared the lads to victory."

Parkinson was delighted to register his 94th victory in his 150th game as manager of Wrexham.

"It was my 150th game and the aim was to win," he said.

"Not for myself, but it is nice to reach that milestone and celebrate with three points because it was hard earned.

"But I am very pleased with how the lads performed.

"There is a strong mentality in the dressing room.

"We have got players like James McClean and Steven Fletcher who are strong characters and I think that really showed.

"You need nous out on the football pitch and game management and I thought we showed that in abundance."

Results elsewhere were favourable as a number of teams around Wrexham dropped points, with the Reds now only two points behind second placed Mansfield with a game in hand.

"I am pleased with that but we will just keep focussing on ourselves," added Parkinson, whose side have 15 fixtures remaining in the quest for a second successive promotion.

"That is absolutely key."
