PHIL PARKINSON won't get carried away after ending the barren run and he wants Wrexham to build on the midweek win when Notts County visit The Racecourse tomorrow.

The Reds ended a run of four successive defeats, with three coming in League Two, by beating lowly Sutton United 2-1 at Gander Green Lane on Tuesday.

It was a hard-fought victory which took Wrexham up to fourth in the table, six points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand.

Reds boss Parkinson is expecting another tough game against Notts County - a side Wrexham endured a thrilling title battle with in the National League last season.

Wrexham won the title - helped by a stunning 3-2 home win over County last April  - but the Magpies joined the Reds back in the Football League after a play-off final victory at Wembley.

They return to Wrexham tomorrow in seventh spot after a 3-1 midweek win at Newport County.

After grabbing three much-needed points at Sutton on Tuesday, Parkinson wants his players to rise to the challenge in the quest for a second successive promotion.

"We are not getting carried away but I am pleased with the group," said the Reds' boss. "Just the way they stuck together and fought hard against Sutton.

"I am looking forward to Notts County. They were top of the league earlier in the season, they are still a good team and I can't wait for it

"The lads will get a great reception from our home supporters

"Every game is tough, there is no quarter given in any division.

"Everybody is fighting for things; every player is fighting for a contract and every manager is fighting for his team.

"You have got to be prepared to scrap like we did at Sutton and like the majority of games I have been in charge.

"Every game is huge, it is three points at stake."

Wrexham have 16 fixtures remaining and the Reds also have games in hand on Mansfield and Crewe, who sit second and third respectively.

Striker Jack Marriott, a transfer deadline day signing from Fleetwood Town who made his full debut against Sutton, has urged no let-up from his team-mates.

"There's still a long way to go," he said. "There's lots of points to fight for and we are ready for it."
