MAKING changes had the desired effect in midweek and Phil Parkinson is contemplating freshening the side up for tomorrow's home game with Notts County.

The Reds' boss made four changes for Tuesday's 2-1 win at Sutton United with star striker Paul Mullin among the players given a breather and coming on as a substitute.

The fixtures come thick and fast during a frantic February and Parkinson could again tinker with the team for the clash against the Magpies.

"We made changes because we have got the ability to do that," said Parkinson.

"We have got a big squad and I was so pleased with the response,

"It is important to keep the freshness because freshness from the bench or from the start can be the difference in this run of games and we will continue to do that."

Parkinson will assess midfielder George Evans who was forced off with a glute injury at Gander Green Lane.

Captain Luke Young replaced Evans with the Reds' captain making his first appearance of 2024 and the Reds' boss praised the 30-year-old.

"We left James Jones and Jordan Davies out of the squad, obviously they travelled with us and it is tough," added Parkinson.

"But I felt this was a night for Luke with the conditions and the way it was and wow, did he do well when he got on."
