LUKE BOLTON suffered promotion heartbreak at the end of last season and the wide-man doesn't want to experience the same disappointment with Wrexham.

The 24-year-old, who can play as a winger of full-back, joined Wrexham from Salford City for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day and put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract, keeping him at The Racecourse until the end of the 2025-26 season.

A product of the Manchester City Academy, Bolton enjoyed successful loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town Dundee United before signing for the Ammies in January 2022.

Bolton became a key player and he helped Salford reach the 2022-23 League Two play-offs where the Ammies were beaten 3-1 on penalties by Stockport County after the semi-final tie ended 2 -2 on aggregate.

Wrexham are challenging for automatic promotion in the fourth tier and Bolton, who made his Reds' debut as a late substitute in Saturday's 3-1 defeat against his former club, is eager to go one better with his new club.

"That's the big objective," said Bolton, who scored six goals in 79 league appearances for the Ammies.

"Hopefully I can help the team get promoted.

"I personally missed out last season so I know how hard of a feeling that is.

"Hopefully I can bring that experience and get us get over the line.

"Wrexham are my new club and I am ready to get down to work."
