WREXHAM produced a woeful performance and were well beaten by Salford City who triumphed 3-1 at The Peninsula Stadium on a day to forget.

This was the third successful defeat in all competitions, with two of those coming in League Two.

It is the first time since Parkinson took charge in July 2021 that Wrexham have lost two league games in a row during the regular season.

Dreadful defending from corners left Wrexham with a mountain to climb as Salford went 2-0 up after just 16 minutes.

Sam Dalby reduced the deficit just before the break with his first league goal of the season to spark hope of a comeback but it never materialised and Salford struck again to secure a thoroughly deserved win.

Here's how the players rated:

ARTHUR OKONKWO: At fault for the opening two goals but made some superb saves to keep Wrexham in the game. 4

RYAN BARNETT: The Reds’ wing-backs were unable to get forward and support attacks like they usually do. 4

AARON HAYDEN: Made his comeback from injury but won’t be happy with Wrexham's defending for the goals. 4

BEN TOZER: It was tough going for the Reds’ back-line against a physical Salford side. 4

JORDAN TUNNICLIFFE: Another back from a lay-off but Wrexham’s defending for the goals was poor. 4

JAMES MCCLEAN: It was tough going for Wrexham who were bullied by Salford. 4

ANDY CANNON: Came out with some credit as he at least tried to get the ball down and get passes away. 5

GEORGE EVANS: Unable to get into the game and play like he has done for Wrexham. 4

ELLIOT LEE: Had an off-day but he definitely wasn’t on his own. 4

PAUL MULLEN: Starved off service but unable to take the once chance that fell for him. 4

SAM DALBY: Pulled a goal back to give hope of staging a comeback at 2-1. 4

SUBSTITUTES

STEVEN FLETCHER: Another attacking option but Wrexham offered little. 3

LUKE BOLTON: The new signing got the final 10 minutes. 3

JACK MARRIOTT: Lively when he came on for debut but the game was gone by then. 3

JACOB MENDY: A late substitute. 3
