WREXHAM are underdogs against Blackburn Rovers but Ryan Barnett says the players will rise to the challenge.

The club has become synonymous with FA Cup upsets over the decades and Phil Parkinson's men will aim to cause another shock in tonight's fourth round tie with the Championship outfit at Ewood Park.

Barnett is relishing facing a team two divisions higher than the Reds and insists victory is the aim despite Rovers being favourites to progress.

"This club has got a great history in the FA Cup and us as players rise to the big challenges," said Barnett.

"We will go there full of confidence and looking to win the game.

"Obviously we will respect Blackburn but we will look to implement our plan on them and hope to cause them problems, and cause an upset.

"We have got quality in the side. I would probably say our squad is up there with some Championship teams with the quality we have got in abundance.

"It is a good challenge for us. We want to see how good we are compared to players like that and hopefully we will get through to the next round."

Wrexham have already beaten a team from a higher division in this season's competition.

A 1-0 win against League One side Shrewsbury Town at The Croud Meadow in the cross-border derby earlier this month set-up the clash with Blackburn.

Barnett came through the ranks at Shrewsbury and has fond memories of his time at the Shropshire club but there was only one thing on his mind in the third round encounter

"It was really good," he added.
"I saw quite a few familiar faces and I had a bit of gyp off a few fans but the majority were really good to me.

"I really enjoyed getting the win for Wrexham who I play for now, that was the main objective.

"I was at Shrewsbury from the age of eight to 21, and the club was good to me when I was there.

"Getting to see the staff and all the people was nice but as soon as I got to the stadium it was game time and I was fully focussed on winning for Wrexham."
