PHIL PARKINSON says playing in the FA Cup came at a good time but he's looking for Wrexham to pick up where they left off on their return to League Two action.

Wrexham beat rivals Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in the third round of the famous cup competition last Sunday, with the cross-border derby coming on the back of four league games in 10 days over the hectic festive period when the Reds took nine points from a possible 12.

Facing the Shrews was a welcome break from the promotion push but Parkinson insists his players will have their eyes on the prize when Wrexham, third in the table and only two points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand, face seventh placed AFC Wimbledon at The Racecourse tomorrow.

"I think the FA Cup game came at a good time for us after the busy Christmas period but it's back to it on Saturday," said the Reds' boss.

"We go into the Wimbledon game looking for a continuation of where we left off against Barrow, but knowing Wimbledon are having a really good season themselves.

"Johnnie Jackson has done an outstanding job. I have got a lot of respect for him and what he is doing there.

"He was a player I signed at Colchester and at Charlton, a very good player and he is forging a very good managerial career for himself.

"Wimbledon are a good team and we have got to be ready to go into this game all guns blazing."
