CHRISTMAS came n-ice and early for a Flintshire club!

Deeside Ice Skating Club staged a popular gala in the build-up to the big day.

This pre-Christmas event included a number of the club's disability skating session skaters, who entertained all those who were present.

"We chose Mind as our charity for the Christmas gala and raised £500 for them," said club chair Jo Gillmore.

"We also had two ladies from Northop College who did BSL through the disability number.

"We are now approaching a year since we reopened after Covid and have achieved a lot in that time."

Disability skating sessions were started by the club back in March.

Deeside Ice Skating Club reopened in early January after being closed for almost three years.

This was due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the fact the rink was being used as a mass vaccination centre.

The club hosted two small galas in March and July to give members the opportunity to perform for an audience and the big Christmas gala involved in the region of 70 skaters.
